General presentation

Welcome to the 9th edition of a Conference that started in 2006 and since then has been called Euro-African Conference on Finance and Economics (CEAFE) before we adopted in 2022 the second title : Mediterranean Workshop in Economic Theory (MWET)! Since then, the conference has become one of the regional scientific meetings of Society for Advancement of Economic Theory (SAET: https://saet.uiowa.edu/) under the double name: CEAFE/MWET.

The CEAFE/MWET results from the long-lasting collaboration of several researchers, universities and research centers from Tunisia, France, Belgium, partnering with institutions from Egypt, Morocco and Portugal.

The CEAFE/MWET constitutes a privileged forum for scientific discussion and collaboration between researchers in Africa, Europe and the Mediterranean region working in different areas in the domains of Economics and Finance. It aims to enrich our scientific knowledge on the economic and financial problems arising in modern societies, bringing together researchers working in the frontier of knowledge in the areas of Economics and Finance. It covers a wide diversity of methods (theoretical, empirical and experimental) and scientific topics (e.g., theoretical economics, financial economics, political economics, industrial organization, normative economics, public economics, international economics, macroeconomics, labor market, environmental economics, microeconomics, mathematical economics, networks, welfare, social choice, quantitative finance, applied econometrics, financial markets and banking, fiscal and monetary policy, economic growth, development economics, business and financial cycles) to push forward the frontier of scientific knowledge in the  areas of Economics and Finance.

The first edition of CEAFE was organized in Tunis in 2006 (Ecole Polytechnique de Tunisie). Since then, it took place once every 2 years :  in 2008 (Tunis, Ecole Polytechnique de Tunisie), 2010 (Paris, Université Paris 1), 2012 (Cairo, American University in Cairo), 2014 (Agadir, Ecole Nationale des Sciences Appliquées, Morocco), 2016 (Marseille, Université d’Aix Marseille), 2018 (Tunis, Université de Carthage). After the pandemic prevented it from taking place in 2020, it resumed in 2022 (University of Porto). Its 9th edition is to take place for the first time in Rennes, with 3 local institutions : Rennes School of Business, Université de Rennes and Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Analyse de l’Information, in collaboration with AMSE-Aix-Marseille University, CORE-Université Catholique de Louvain and CES-Université Paris 1-Panthéon-Sorbonne.
